Found in open country, especially near the coast and on off-shore islands. 13 cms. Range: Southeast Asia; a locally common resident throughout the Sundra subregion and parts of Nusa Tenggars.

NOTE:  feeds on the wing; perches at nest deep in limestone caves; navigates in total darkness by audible translational rattle; builds nest which is unique translucent cup, collected and traded commercially by locals for consumption.
