Distribution: breeds across much of Eurasia, from North Africa and Europe to Indian sub-continent, east Asia, Philippines and New Guinea; northern populations migrate to winter on coasts of Africa, Middle East, Indian sub-continent and much of East and Southeast Asia to N Australia.
