Found on the margins of lakes and large rivers, marshes, agriculture, wasteland: up to 1,525 m. 31.5-35 cm. Uncommon to common resident throughout SE Asia.

Found in mangroves, beach scrubs and plantations. 25 cm. Recorded from S and Southeast Asia through New Guinea and Australia. Resident populations in Malaysia are augmented by seasonal migrants.
