The smallest of the Bowerbirds, 23-25 cm. Found in highland rainforests. Range: highlands of ne Q; from Mount Cook, near Endeavour River, s. to Mt Elliot NP, near Townsville, above 900 m; lower in winter. Locally common. Sedentary.

Maypole bower used by the male to attract a mate.

Found in rainforests, palm/vine scrubs; especially near running water; adjacent eucalyptus woodlands. 15-16 cm. Range: coastal ne. Q, from Cooktown s. to Ingham, in rainforests up to 700 m. Fairly common, Sedentary.

Q, between 500 and 1400 m, occasionally lower; from Mt Amos, near Cooktown, s. to Mt Elliot near Townsville (Q). Common, sedentary.
