Also known as Pied Chat. 14 cm. Open country species which has benefitted from widespread forest clearances; found in cultivated areas and savanna grasslands with scattered trees; lowlands and often into montane elevations. Range: Middle east Asia through the Oriental Region and east to New Guinea: locally common resident in Java, Bali and parts of Wallacea and Papua.
