Open country, urban areas, often near palm trees; up to 1,525 m. Often found in small highly active groups. Resident India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, SW & S China, Greater Sundra, Philippines. Uncommon to common resident in SE Asia.

Over open areas, sometimes over forests, offshore islets, up to 1,300 m, mostly lowlands. Resident N Borneo, S Philippines. In SE Asia: locally common to common resident S Myanmar, Tenasserim, W &C & S Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, uncertain in Laos.

Known in Australia as Peaceful Dove. 20 cms. Found in secondary scrub, mangrove edges, grassland, parkland and urban areas. Distribution: Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Philippines, Sulawesi, Lesser Sunda.

Found in coastal woodland habitats, from mangroves and forest edges to scrubs and rural gardens. 18 cm. Range: south-east Asia: widespread and common resident in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java and Bali.

Associated with human agriculture and settlements. 25 cm. Resident from the Middle East through India and S China to Southeast Asia; invaded Peninsula Malaysia and Singapore over the past century, then Sumatra and a small numbers in Sarawak.
