Found in grasslands, with trees; tree-lined watercourses. 30-38 cm, wingspan 90 cm.  range: s. Barkly Tableland (NT); Georgina R.-Diamantina R. drainage of far w Q to L Eyre Basin of ne SA. 

NOTE:  Eruptive when population of long-haired rats increase.

    Andrew, I forget what the exact location was but at the time it was well publicised. It was when there was an eruption of them and they were seen at a few sites in Victoria and SA. I saw them shortly after this on the Strezlecki also. The site of the Victorian one might be found going back on the Facebook Twitchers page.
