Ranges across India, S China and parts of se Asia. Introduced into Australia in the 1880s. Widespread around Sydney to Blue Mountains, some in lower Hunter and Shoalhaven, separate colony at Coffs Harbour and small group in South Yarra. Found in gardens, suburban trees, parks and wastelands.
