Found in forest, wooded areas and adjoining home gardens. 16 cm. Uncommon breeding resident in lowlands to mid hills, comparatively more in wet zone.

Frequents a variety of wooded habitats, from wet primary rainforest in the Sunda subregion to deciduous forests and secondary growth in eastern Indonesia; found from the coast into lower montane elevations. 17 cm. Distribution: Oriental region: widespread and locally fairly common resident in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara east to Flores.
