Rare migrant to primary and secondary forest, old plantations, scrub and occasionally parkland. 19 cm,  23 cm tail. Breeds in Japan, Korea and islands off Taiwan; winters in Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo and Java.

Note: only females seen in Singapore.
