Also known as Pink-cheeked Green Pigeon. 25 cm. A coastal bird, found mainly in mangroves and coastal woodlands, has expanded successfully into disturbed forest, plantations, parks and gardens. Range: Southeast Asia: common resident of the Sunda subregion; extends into Sulawesi, Lombok, Sumbawa and some adjacent islands.

Also known as Grey-cheeked Green Pigeon. Found in wooded areas from the lowlands up to the montane forest, on east Java to 2,500 m in elevation. 26 cm. Range: Indonesian endemic; widespread but generally uncommon resident on Java, Bali, Sulawesi and adjacent islands.

NOTE:   these three shots were the only ones I was able to take before the bird disappeared into the foliage. I hope to replace in the next three weeks.

Although a pelagic bird it does fly close to the coast. 72 cm. Worldwide in tropical oceans: resident in the Flores Sea, Banda Sea, Maacca Strait and possibly elsewhere; widespread and fairly common.

Also known as White-bellied Fish-eagle. 70 cm. Mainly a coastal bird found on remote sea shores and offshore islands, also ventures up large rivers and visits reservoirs inland. Range: Orietal region and Australasia: widespread throughout the Indonesian archipelago; sedentary.

Also known as Orange-fronted Barbet. 21 cm. A forest barbet, primarily found in forests and forest edges, or nearby wooded cultivation; from the lowlands to 2,500 m elevation, but more numerous in hills above 600m. Indonesian endemic, fairly common resident on Java and Bali only.

Mainly freshwater bird found in extensive swamps and adjacent, flooded paddy fields; sometimes around mangroves and tidal estuaries. 90 cm. Range: Africa and Eurasia: generally uncommon but locally numerous resident throughout the Greater Sundras and east into parts of Wallacea.

A pelagic bird which sometimes flies across land; catches fish and squids from surface waters, female will chase terns for their catch. 76 cm. Most common frigatebird in Indonesia; Ranges across tropical oceans worldwide; roams widely during non-breeding season.
