Range across the Kimberley, right across the top of Australia, including Cape York and down as far asVictoria and into SA, inland to half the state in Queensland and NSW and across most of Victoria. Found in forest/woodland, red river gums, grassland, mangroves, gardens.

Also known as Ground Thrush, Mountain Thrush, Scaly Thrush or White's Thrush. Range from just above Brisbane on the coast, around until se tip of SA, all of Tasmania, pocket around Adelaide, pocket on coast near Atherton Tablelands. Found in rain forests, forests, woodlands, coastal scrubs, and pine plantations. 26-29 cm, very difficult to tell from Russet-tailed Thrush, some even suggesting same bird.
