Range: Barkly Tablelands, e NT, and adjacent Q., e. to c. Hughenden-Longreach, casual to e. coast near Townsville; w. to Kimberley Region (WA)

28-31 cm. Ranges down e coast from Brisbanme across to Eyre peninsular, sw WA, and Tasmaina. Found in dense scrub, heaths, forests, woodland, mallee.

32-36 cm.  Found over most of Australia except Cape York and most of eastern Western Australia. Found in forests, woodland, mallee, cypress, acacia, banksia, heaths and coastal tea-trees.
