Predominantly in mangroves, and open ground with fairly close trees that provide sites for foraging insects; migrants tend to occur more in parkland and gardens. 28 cm. Resident from Afghanistan eastwards through S China and Southeast Asia to Palawan, Borneo, Java, Bali and Lombok; migrant to Southeast Asia, including Peninsula Malaysia and Singapore.

Found in middle storey and canopy of forests' often occurs down to lower levels in forest and forest edges, from sea-level up to 900 m. 19 cm. Resident from S Myanmar and Peninsula Thailand to Malaysia and Singapore, Sumatra and Borneo.

Frequents limestone outcrops but forages many kilometres beyond these breeding sites over forests and cultivation. 18-20 cms. range throughout Malaysian Peninsula but not yet Singapore.

Found in open broad-leafed, evergreen, semi-evergreen and mixed deciduous forest and bamboo, forest edge and clearings, coastal scrubs, mangrove, island forests, sometimes plantations up to 1,830 m. 21-22.5 cm. Fairly common resident in northern Malaysian Peninsula, uncommon non-breeding visitor to the south.

Found among coconut palms, grasslands and the edges of secondary woodland or oil palm estates,where tall grass is adjacent to suitable nesting trees. 15 cm. Resident from India and Sri Lanka to S China and parts of Southeast Asia as far as Peninsula Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, Java and Bali.

Found in forest canopies from extreme lowlands to montane forest at 1,100 m and especially understory along logging tracks and forest edges, riverbanks, and dense tangled secondary growth. 12 cm. India and southernmost China through southeast Asia to Singapore, Sumatra, the Anabas and Borneo.

Resident from Indian sub-continent eastward to Hainan and through Peninsula Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Bali.
