Abundant resident of grassland, open scrub, playing fields, golf courses and barren ground on cleared or reclaimed land. 16 cm. Distribution: Afghanistan and much of Indian sub-continent, SW China and mainland Southeast Asia, east to Philippines and Lesser Sundas.
