uncommon winter visitor and passage migrant to sandy beaches, occasionally mudflats. 16 cm. Distribution: Breeds across Eurasia, from Europe to Indian sub-continent and East Asia; Northern populations migrate to winter in Africa, Middle east, Indian sub-culture, S China and Southeast Asia.
