Found in open country, wooded areas; often seen in migrating flocks over forests. 29-35 cm. Breeds W,C,E,S China, taiwan, N,S Korea, S Ussuriland; winters Sundas, Philippines, Sulawesi, N Moluccan, rarely New Guinea.

Frequents forests and open woodlands and is often seen near the coast. 27 cm. Breeds in northeastern Asia; migratory; widespread winter visitor in the Sunda and parts of Wallacea subregions; probably overlooked on many islands; generally fairly common and locally abundant during peak migration.

Found in wooded areas. 30-36 cm; female larger than the male. Breeds in Southeast China, Taiwan, Korea and Siberia; winters in Indonesia and Philippines, passing through the rest of southeast Asia.

Range all over Australia, including Tasmania, widespread, uncommon but may be seldom recognised as similar to Brown Goshawk. Found in forests, woodlands, river margins, inland scrubs, timbered gorges, farmlands, shelter belts, leafy suburban gardens. 30-40 cm, wingspan 76 cm.

Also known as Black Goshawk and Great Sparrowhawk. Found in forests and non-desert areas south of the Sahara. Likes areas where there are tall trees for nesting, but also human altered habitat. Preys on birds of moderate size in suburban areas. 40-54 cm, wingspan 77-105 cm.
