The smallest of the Bowerbirds, 23-25 cm. Found in highland rainforests. Range: highlands of ne Q; from Mount Cook, near Endeavour River, s. to Mt Elliot NP, near Townsville, above 900 m; lower in winter. Locally common. Sedentary.

amazing colour - his feathers are luminous and a fine 'nest' too - he goes to a lot of trouble for a little fellow
