Also known as Indian Reed Warbler. Found in reed beds and tangles around wetlands. 19 cm. Locally rather common breeding resident throughout dry lowlands, occasionally visits wet zone.
Endemic. Globally threatened. Found near fast flowing mountain streams and ponds in dense forest; undergrowth of plantations. 20 cm. Local and fairly rare in high hills.
Found in forest, well-wooded areas, often near streams. 14 cm. Rather uncommon winter migrant to wet lowlands and up to lower hills; local and less common in dry lowlands and mid hills.
Also known as Tri-coloured Muni. Found in marshes, paddy fields and log grass. 11.5 cm. Fairly common to rare breeding resident locally throughout Sri Lanka.
Endemic. Also known as Ceylon Small Barbet. Found in forest and open wooded country. 17 cm. Fairly common from lowlands up to mid hills, but rather local in dry zone.
Found in damp grasslands and marshes. 18 cm. Four races have been recorded in Sri Lanka; thunbergi is common winter migrant throughout Sri Lanka, mainly in dry lowlands; other races are rare to very rare migrants to dry lowlands.
