Found on forest edges and open woodlands, never in closed forest; occurs from coastal mangroves to lower montane villages and gardens. 15 cms. Ranges: Oriental Region: widespread and generally common on Sumatra, Java and Bali.
Note: The subspecies Rosea is found on Bali.
