Found in marshes, pools, water holes and tank edges in and adjoining forests. 110-120 cm. Rare breeding resident in dry zone lowlands.

Frequents flooded fields, mainly paddy fields, marshes and pools. 110-120 cm. Local resident in low lands, now mainly in the east.

Found along extensive mangrove areas; feeds on exposed mudflats at low tide. 114 cms. Range: Oriental region: sedentary; Uncommon and low-density resident in Sumatra, Java and Bali. Vulnerable to global extinction.
