Subspecies striata. Found in forests, open wooded areas, scrub and cultivation. 10-11 cm. Fairly common breeding resident in lowlands and up to mid hills.

Found in all types of open country, cultivated fields, grasslands and gardens, from beach up to 1,800 m. 11 cm. Range: Indonesian endemic; Widespread and common resident on Java, Bali and Lombok; has also expanded into south Sumatra.
