Found in freshwater marshes, paddy fields, prawn pond areas, tidal mudflats and along mangrove edges. 45 cm. Range: South-east Asia and Indonesia, mainly sedentary; common resident and non-breeding visitor in parts of Sunda and Wallacea subregions.
